INDIAN LAND — The Friends of the Del Webb Library in Indian Land will be hosting a series of book signings by area authors, including Mignon Ballard of Fort Mill.
The first will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, with Dr. Robert D. Lesslie, author of “Angels in the ER,” “Angels on Call” and “Angels and Heroes.” Lesslie is a physician who lives and practices medicine in Rock Hill. In “Angels in the ER,” Lesslie tells the stories of those who are suddenly confronted by their mortality, the death of a loved one, or some unexpected and life-changing occurrence and of those who care for them.
The second signing will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, with Ballard, author of the beloved Augusta Goodnight mysteries and the Miss Dimple mysteries. A native of Calhoun, Ga., she earned a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and is the author of seven Augusta Goodnight mysteries and nine previous novels, as well as the script and lyrics of “Bandstand Tales,” a musical history of Fort Mill.
This will be The Friends’ last opportunity to host Ballard, who is moving back to her native Georgia this summer.
The third will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, with Marybeth Whalen, author of four novels, the newest of which is “The Wishing Tree,” which will be released in June. Whalen runs She Reads, a website devoted to spotlighting the best in women’s fiction ( marybethwhalen.com or shereads.org).
The public is invited to all of these events, and no RSVP is required.
