LEXINGTON — After rallying in the third quarter, Fort Mill couldnt complete the comeback in the final period Saturday.
Wando scored two unanswered goals to beat Fort Mill, 8-5, in the boys state lacrosse championship at White Knoll High.
The Fort Mill Jackets were in the state championship match for the second time in three years. winning it all 2011. First-year head coach Steve Nadolski said that things werent meant to be this time around.

Wando, the defending state champions, was ranked No. 1 in the state and Fort Mill was, No. 2.
Fort Mill trailed 5-3 at the half, but came out in the third quarter controlling the ball and moving it around looking for a good shot. In doing so, the Jackets ate up the clock.

Fort Mill stayed on the attack, scoring when senior Trevor Wylie connected with 7.9 seconds left in the period to trail by one goal. .
Wando added two more goals to put things away.
With 7:36 left in the game, Wando junior Carson Horner scored to give the Warriors another two goal lead. Then with 3:17 left, junior Chase Robinson would add another goal for Wando.
Fort Mill struggled at times keeping possession of the ball in the very physical came, as the Jackets had costly turnovers off of missed passes.
Fort Mill led just once in the game, as Russell scored just four minutes into the game.
