FORT MILL TOWNSHIP — Special to the Fort Mill Times
The audience will laugh and cry and every mother in the building will never feel more loved and honored.
This is the goal of the NarroWay Theater and Conference Center’s only variety show “A Tribute to Mothers.”
“Every person that comes with their mom will feel appreciation for them,” said Cheryl Lipian, director of marketing and public relations for NarroWay. “It’s all about her.”
The show is full of songs most audience members will recognize and includes a variety of genres the whole family will enjoy, Lipian said.
“There are fantastic singers with incredible voices,” she said. “It’s so different than any other show.”
NarroWay co-founder Rebecca Martin established the show as a way to honor the special women in everyone’s life.
“Everybody has a momma,” she said. “It’s a fun show.”
Martin said the show allows people to share how they feel about their mothers and other special women in their lives.
“We say it with music and drama,” she said.
Audience members can also buy a candle to hold up for the women they want to remember and have their names called during the show.
“It’s such a special way of honoring them,” Martin said. “This is a tribute to mothers.”
However, mothers aren’t the only stars of the show. At a special point in the show, the cast members’ children come on stage to answer a variety of questions.
“You never know what those kids will say,” Lipian said. “It’s funny and cute.”
“A Tribute to Mothers” follows a timeline of a mother’s life, showing every stage of motherhood. Lipian said audiences often see themselves in the show.
“Flowers will die, but these memories will last forever,” she said. “It’s a time to bring your mom out and spoil her.”
Audience members will also be fed a meal a mother would make, Lipian said. “It’s a meal fit for a queen,” she said.
“A Tribute to Mothers” runs May 10 and 11. There will be a showing at 6:30 p.m. Friday and at 12 and 5 p.m. Saturday.
