Congratulations, Indian Land Middle

May 22, 2013

Indian Land Middle School has once again been designated as a National School to Watch!

The school is one of 14 middle schools in the State of South Carolina to earn this prestigious recognition. Congratulations, students, faculty, staff, and administrators on this outstanding accomplishment.

Schools to Watch are:

• Academically Excellent. These schools challenge all students to use their minds well.

• Developmentally Responsive. These schools are sensitive to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence.

• Socially Equitable. These schools are fair, providing every student with high-quality teachers, resources, and support.

• Organized. These schools establish norms, structures, and organizational arrangements to support and sustain their trajectory toward excellence.

The program was great. David McDonald, principal, and Dr. Gene Moore, Lancaster County School superintendent, gave inspirational messages. The chorus was awesome and the program ended with a celebration that included beach balls and a lot of dancing by all.

I feel good every time I enter this school because I am surrounded by upbeat people who boost my optimism by at least 25 percent. It is contagious. Students learn that life is a gold mine of opportunities, an unlocked vault of knowledge and an ever replenishing treasure chest of great things.

Students, open it up and scoop up your share!
