Beckham rehab leads Knights past Hens

— The Knights closed out a four-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens on Thursday with an 8-4 win behind the slugging of Brent Morel, Jim Gallagher and Gordon Beckham, down on rehab from the Chicago White Sox.

Beckham was originally placed on the disabled list with a fractured wrist by Chicago on April 12 (retroactive to April 10).

The Knights took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Blake Tekotte doubled and scored on Beckham’s single, and Morel followed with his fourth homer of the season.

Toledo scored two in the top of the sixth, but The Knights clobbered in five more in the bottom of the inning, four coming on a grand slam by Jim Gallagher.

Andre Rienzo (4-3) earned the win on 5.1 innings for the Knights.

Shawn Hill (0-6) took the loss after 5.2 innings for the Hens.

Hill has pitched in the majors in every season since 2006.

Beckham went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the Knights, and Morel was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Gallagher’s 4-RBI home run came on a 3-4 day.

The Knights host Rochester on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
