Saturday's 'Battle of the Border' moved to Nation Ford High

Due to a forecast of heavy rain Friday and possibly into the weekend, the location of Saturday's Battle of the Border football exhibition has been moved from Fort Mill High to Nation Ford High School, officials announced today.

Both high schools had new artificial turf installed; Nation Ford's field was completed last week, but work on Fort Mills, which started later, was expected to be finished in time for the 'Border' games pitting Nation Ford against Indian Land and Fort Mill against Weddington.

"In light of our current reality (rain and more to come) it would not be prudent to push Field Turf to rush through their work and potentially sacrifice quality," Fort Mill Principal M. Dee Christopher wrote in a statement emailed late Friday morning.

Field Turf is the brand of artificial turf installed at the fields. The gates at Nation Ford open at 6 p.m. and the first games – Nation Ford vs. Indian Land, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Fort Mill is expected to take the field at 8:30 p.m.
