SPRINGFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL — Springfield Middle School

The Springfield Middle School seventh grade volleyball team is off to a solid start this season.

The Lady Mustangs are currently 6-0 with four games remaining in regular season play. They also participated in the Bearcat Invitational tournament last month and won the silver medal bracket. Their next game is Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Banks Trail followed by a Thursday, Oct. 10, match-up with Gold Hill Middle School at home.

The team is led by captains Brianna Queen and Sophia Catan.

While most players have some volleyball experience, there are some rookies on the team.

“They not only excel on the court, but also in the classroom,” coach Nancy Swicegood says.

“As a team, they are currently maintaining a strong A average. It is a privilege to be their coach with a ringside seat to watch them mature personally, academically and as a team.”
