NaFo Band 1st in music, effects at Tournament of Champions

— The Nation Ford High School band competed in the Tournament of Champions at Western Carolina University Saturday, earning first-place awards in the Music and General Effect categories.

The competition was filled with state championship and Bands of America finalist bands from Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In the preliminary competition Nation Ford placed second in its class by .07 of a point.

In the finals, Dobyns-Bennett High School from Kingsport, Tenn., placed first with a score of 92.15 and Nation Ford was second with 91.75.

The Nation Ford Band’s next performance will be in the South Carolina Band Director’s Association Class 4-A Upper State Competition at 8 p.m. Saturday at Boiling Springs High School.
