FORT MILL — A Folly Beach man was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a chase hat ended in a wreck at the intersection of Hwys. 160 and 2`, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report.
On Oct. 4, a police officer on patrol spotted a 1986 silver Pontiac Bonneville that had reported stolen and attempted to pull the driver over, but the driver sped off, the officer said in the report. The driver of the Bonneville sped through a red light and was struck by an SUV, according to the report.
The report did not specify is anyone was seriously hurt in the crash.
The officer said three people were in the stolen Bonneville. The driver was identified as Cody Harahus of 506 E. Ashley Ave., Folly Beach. Police said Harahus failed a breathalyzer test. He was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, possession of a stolen vehicle, DUI and marijuana possession after police allegedly found a small amount in the glove compartment, according to the report.
At the Fort Mill Police Department, Harahus allegedly admitted he did not have insurance for the vehicle but was planning on getting some in the next few days. He was later charged with operating an uninsured vehicle.
