Why are drivers ignoring this safety rule?

October 22, 2013

Please follow the rules

Every school day I drop my son off at Pleasant Knoll Elementary at approximately 7:30 a.m. Left turns out of PKES are not permitted between 7:10 and 7:45. But every morning as we are pulling into PKES, a few cars are turning left out of PKES.

My son asks me every day, why are people taking left turns if they are not allowed? I would like to elevate my son’s question to the drivers of these cars. You see, you have already dropped your children off at school and they do not see you breaking the rules, but my son does. You choose to ignore the orange barrel in the left lane, the no left turn sign, and recent message from Principal Grey Young reminding parents of this safety issue.

I would like to ask these rule-breaking parents to answer my son’s question, and for that matter I would also like to know: Why?
