The Fort Mill High School Dance Team will be holding its fourth annual Fort Mill High School Dance Invitational Saturday in the main gym at FMHS.

Eight dance teams from around the area will be competing with doors opening at 11 a.m. The FMHS Dance Team will perform at the end of the competition. Admission is $5 at the door.

The Dance Invitational is one of the dance team’s major fundraisers for the year with proceeds from this event and the annual “Breakfast with Santa” fundraiser on Dec. 14 allowing the team to travel to Atlanta to compete at the CheerSport National Dance Competition Feb. 14-16, 2014.

“As well as providing us with a great fundraiser, this Invitational provides an affordable opportunity for other dance teams in North and South Carolina to compete and perform,” Dance Team Coach Elizabeth Dukes said.

The Dance Team held several fundraisers to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation during October, which was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as members of the Fort Mill community battling cancer and volunteered at the Komen Race for the Cure.

The Dance Team performs at the high school football and basketball games and school pep rallies. The team invites everyone to come out and support the invitational and their favorite area high school dance team.

You can help the girls get to Atlanta by asking to sit in their booth at their special table at Beef O’ Brady’s in Baxter Village.
