Food giveaway is Dec. 13 in Indian Land

From staff reportsDecember 2, 2013

Faith Presbyterian Church and Belair United Methodist Church of Indian Land are sponsoring their fourth, and final, Second Harvest food distribution for this year on Friday, Dec. 13.

The distribution will take place in the parking lot of Belair United Methodist Church on Shelley Mullis Road. The church is one half mile east of Hwy. 521 across from Food Lion.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the food distribution will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis until it is gone. Approximately 240 families were served at the last truck in July.

Recipients must meet the income eligibility guidelines established by the USDA and an acceptable form of ID is required at the time of registration. The main intent of this distribution is to serve Indian Land families in need of food but it is also open to ALL who come. Through the partnership of Faith and Belair churches, and many volunteers, nearly 1,000 families have received food this year in the Indian Land area.

Belair United Methodist Church continues to operate a food pantry for Indian Land residents twice a month on the first and third Thursday mornings. Donations of food, and or cash, may be dropped off at the church office.

For more information about the mobile food, or how you can help, call Faith Presbyterian Church at 548-8810.
