— The Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill invites everybody to its annual open house 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

Home for the Holidays Open House will include Christmas Carol singing, homemade treats and a chance to meet the kittens, cats, puppies and dogs who are taken care of at the shelter. The theme of the event is always “Home for the Holidays,” in the hope that some of the pets at the shelter will find a forever home.

Those who visit are invited to bring items on the HSYC wish list that can be found on its website, humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org. You can also find information on the site about volunteer opportunities. Volunteer orientation is offered the first Saturday or third Friday of the month.

The HSYC shelter is located at 8177 Regent Parkway, Fort Mill. The phone number is 803-802-0902.
