INDIAN LAND — Two people were freed from a car and airlifted to a Charlotte hospital after colliding with a truck on a Lancaster County highway Thursday evening.
Details about the crash still have not been released, but troopers reported a two-car wreck between a disabled 1986 GMC box truck and a 2012 Honda three miles south of Fort Mill on U.S. 521 at Doby's Bridge Road.
The Honda's driver has been identified as Bruce Libke, 68, of Indian Land, said Lance Cpl. Tony Keller with the Highway Patrol.
Both Libke and a female passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, were entrapped in the car and had to be freed using mechanical means, Keller said.
They were both flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Troopers are still investigating the crash, Keller said.
The collision closed southbound lanes on Doby's Bridge Road for several hours until they reopened at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
By late Friday, officials had not released additional information.
