— Schools officials in Fort Mill and in Lancaster County have canceled classes for Wednesday.

Fort Mill Town Hall will open at 10:30 a.m., two hours later than usual, the town said in an email this morning. Fort Mill Municipal Court will be closed Wednesday as well, officials announced Tuesday night.

"With the onset of inclement weather and increasingly hazardous road conditions in our area, all Fort Mill School District schools and operations will e closed Wednesday," according to an alter sent by Fort Mill School District spokeswoman Kelly McKinney Tuesday evening.

"These closures extend to all on-site after school care programs as well as any to any other scheduled school-related activity," the alert said.

A make-up date will be announced at a later date.

Snow began to fall on the area late Tuesday afternoon and expected to continue overnight.

"On behalf of the school district, stay safe, stay warm and enjoy your time at home," McKinney wrote.

Indian Land schools are also closed Wednesday, according to the Lancaster County School District website.
