— Everything is perfect for the couple’s big day – that is until someone is killed.

That’s the premise when the Tega Cay Lions Club hosts the “Til Death Do Us Part” murder mystery theater dinner at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Glennon Community Center. Proceeds support the club’s charities.

The event will feature the members of the Murder Mystery Co. of Charlotte, who will mingle with guests at the fictional wedding of Neil Burger and Summer McDonald, Tega Cay Lions Club member Penny Sheppard said.

Guests are encouraged to play any character they wish and dress in inappropriate wedding attire such as beach clothes and ugly bridesmaid dresses or wedding dresses and tuxes, Sheppard said.

“You will have as much fun as you put into it,” she said.

The theme makes for a different Valentine’s Day experience, Sheppard said.

“We like to make our fundraising fun,” she said.

The Tega Cay Lions Club is looking forward to the event, said club member Hope MacBride.

“There’s going to be a bunch of crazy people coming,” she said. “It’s a lot of fun.”

MacBride encouraged residents to solve the murder mystery.

“We need a lot of support from the community,” she said.

Sheppard’s husband, Tega Cay Mayor George Sheppard, said the event will benefit a generous organization.

“Support the Tega Cay Lions Club,” he said. “They’ve supported the community for 40 years.”

The Tega Cay Lions Club supports local charities each year, including the Children’s Attention Home Charter School, Helping Hands of Tega Cay and the Juvenile Diabetes Society.

Tickets are $60 and include dinner and wedding cake for dessert.

In lieu of gifts to the “bride and groom,” guests are asked to bring nonperishable items for the Fort Mill Care Center or make a monetary donation to the Club’s PediaVision SPOT Initiative.

To make a reservation, contact MacBride at hope.macbride@gmail.com or 547-0974.
