— Fort Mill school officials decided to end classes early today after a steady snowfall began to intensify at around 11 a.m. today. Elementary school classes will end at 1 p.m. today. Middle and high school students will be sent home at 2 p.m.

The Fort Mill Public Library in Baxter Village will close early as well, at 1 p.m. today.

In Indian Land, students were dismissed early today: 10 a.m. for the elementary school and 11 a.m. for the middle and high schools.

"The amount of snowfall we're getting this morning makes us believe we need to get buses on the roads earlier than we planned," superintendent Gene Moore said. "We want to do everything we can to make sure students get home safely."

Light snow has been falling in intervals since early this morning and up to six inches is expected to accumulate over the next two days, according to forecasts.
