Fort Mill, Nation Ford game re-scheduled; Lady Jackets begin playoffs on the road Thursday

— High school basketball started the week not knowing which teams would make the playoffs thanks to last week’s winter storm.

In Fort Mill, the rescheduled Fort Mill and Nation Ford boys’ game played Monday determined which school is a lock for the playoffs. (Check for results.)

The game decided the fourth and fifth place spots in the region. The fourth place team is in, while the fifth place team still make it, but will have to be selected as part of an at-large process.

Playoffs for the Lady Jackets basketball team is scheduled to start this week.

The state High School League had originally schedule to start the 4A girls’ playoffs on Tuesday. That has now been pushed back to Thursday. Because the Lady Jackets locked up fourth place in Region III, the Fort Mill girls will have a road game in the first round.

The change is to allow other schools to make up games canceled because of the snow. For seeding purposes, all regular season games must be finished before the playoffs can start.

The first round of the boys’ playoff also start Thursday. The boys’ playoffs were originally scheduled to begin Wednesday, but was also pushed back by the state High School League.
