INDIAN LAND — Police are investigating the apparent stabbing death of an Indian Land resident early Sunday.
Jimmie Adams, 47, died at his home at 1217 E. Arrow Lake Court just past 1:30 a.m. Sunday after being stabbed. As of Monday afternoon, charges hadn’t been filed.
Deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home after a report of a domestic disturbance. They found Adams on the floor, the victim of an apparent stabbing, according to a brief statement from the sheriff’s office Monday.
Criminal and crime scene investigators processed the home and by Monday morning “all involved parties have been located and are cooperating” with the investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No suspects have been named.
The home is in the Legacy Park subdivision. A woman answering the door at the residence declined to comment.
Bill Palmer lives a few houses down, on Cool Mist. Palmer moved to the area in 2001 and can’t recall anything like what happened during the weekend, he said.
“Very peaceful,” Palmer said. “The only thing we’ve ever had to deal with is the kids doing vandalism once in a while. Break-ins don’t happen.”
Paris Slocum, another neighbor, said he knew someone who lived in the home, but it wasn’t the victim. Slocum said residents weren’t sure what was happening as deputies responded and still hadn’t heard much by Monday.
“We thought maybe somebody broke in,” he said. “We didn’t think nothing like that (a stabbing death).”
Neighbors say officers, investigators and flashing lights surrounded the home for more than four hours Sunday morning. Neighbors asking officers on scene were ushered by the home without much explanation, they said.
Palmer said Monday one neighbor he’d spoken with heard screaming prior to deputies arriving on scene. Neighbors agreed the incident doesn’t leave them feeling more anxious about the neighborhood.
“Very peaceful,” Palmer said. “That’s why we moved here. Kids can play in the street.”
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
