Tega Cay’s Mayor’s Cup invites golfers to play

CorrespondentMarch 3, 2014

— Golfers are invited to greet a new season on the greens and supportcommunity endeavors at the same time.

The fourth annual Tega Cay Mayors’ Cup Golf Tournament will be March 28 at the Tega Cay Golf Club, 15083 Molokai Drive in Tega Cay. Proceeds benefit public events and causes.

The city created the tournament as a way to fund events including Tega Cay’s annual Fourth of July celebration and fall festival, said Charlie Funderburk, Tega Cay city manager.

“It’s a fun day for golf, and participants know that the money is going to the wonderful community events Tega Cay is able to put on every year,” he said. “It’s about the events happening all year long.”

The tournament will be a four-man Captain’s Choice with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Prizes will be awarded and participants can purchase “mulligan tickets” for free strokes.

There will be a hamburger cookout after the tournament. Registration is $95 per golfer. Individuals are welcome but teams are encouraged.

Various sponsorships are available. To register or become a sponsor, visit tegacaymayorscup.com or call 803-548-3512.
