A forklift was used to steal an ATM from TD Bank in Fort Mill on Wednesday morning, according to the York County Sheriffs Office.
A deputy responded to the bank on Stone Village Drive between 4 and 5 a.m. in response to an ATM alarm. Next to the bank was a large orange forklift," which was still running, the report stated. The forklift appeared to be hot-wired.
The landscaping and sod near where the ATM was taken looked like it had been run over with the forklift and there were tracks from the road onto the landscaping.
The banks security company told the sheriffs office that video showed the forklift was used to break the ATM off its foundation and put it in the bed of a pickup truck. A person in all dark clothing got out of the forklift and got in the truck before driving away. The truck turned right from Stone Village Drive onto Highway 160, but officers were unable to locate it.
The truck was a dark blue 1997 C1500 Chevrolet with chrome wheels and the report lists two suspects, although no name or identifying information is available.
The ATM unit is valued at $300,000, not including an undetermined amount of money that was inside the ATM.
