Falcons drop first tennis match, but 5-1 in Region III

— The Nation Ford tennis team is still in the hunt for a Region III title.

Nation Ford fell 5-1 to Clover last week and are 5-1 on the year, with an identical record in the region. The Blue Eagles are the only undefeated region team.

Nation Ford’s only win against Clover came from No. 2 singles player Raj Dwivedi, who won in a close match 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

The rest of the Falcons’ line up fell to Clover in straight sets.

Nation Ford did have a better match-up against York winning 6-0. Led by No. 1 singles player Jonathan Habbick, the Falcons won five of the six matches in straight sets.

Habbick won 6-0, 6-0 and Dwivedi won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. No. 3 singles Alex Jacob won 6-1, 6-4 and only No. 4 singles Banks Reigel had some trouble dropping a set, but still coming out on top 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.

No. 5 singles Davis Plasko won 6-1, 6-2 and in the only doubles match against York, Alex Smith and Rahul Hassani won 6-2, 6-0.

Nation Ford will face Clover one more time this season, this time at home, April 22. Up next for the Falcons is an April 3 match at rival Fort Mill, followed by a home match against Rock Hill and a road match against South Pointe in the coming weeks.
