Pobiega was driving a 2004 Volkswagen sedan west on Dobys Bridge Road. A 1996 Ford SUV, driven by William Taylor, 32, of Indian Land, was driving west when Taylor's vehicle crossed the center line and hit Pobiega's car head-on, according to the Highway Patrol.

Taylor was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. west of the intersection of Dobys Bridge Road and U.S. 521.

The crash remains under investigation.
