Letter: Cursive is important

Cursive is important

This week I found the editorial by James Werrell in both The Herald and Fort Mill Times, concerning “The art of Cursive Writing,” very disturbing.

I do not know who is behind this proposal but I suspect it is the same people behind Common Core who have been dumbing down the students in our education system over the past five decades, the NEA.

Cursive writing is an art. Whether people are good or bad in their ability to execute it doesn’t mean you just throw it out of existence.

Haven’t you heard the old adage “practice makes perfect?” Surprise, not everyone is perfect in all they attempt.

In this throw-away world we live in, please let us retain an art with dignity, grace and decorum.
