Car stolen

A car was stolen from outside a home on Steel Circle April 1 while the owner was inside playing video games, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report.

The owner, a Rock Hill man, said he left the car unlocked with the key in the ignition. Prior to the complaint about the stolen car, a Steele Street resident called police to report that someone was driving recklessly in the neighborhood. A police officer did spot someone driving recklessly but lost sight of the car before the driver could be stopped, the report states.

Police suspect the car that was observed may have been the one later reported stolen.

Car hits house

Fort Mill police were called to a McGee Street home April 1 when a homeowner reported that a car struck his house. When police arrived they found an unoccupied vehicle with extensive damage on the driver’s side next to the house. The vehicle belongs to a resident of Lancaster County, according to a report.

The collision caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to the home, the report states. Police have a suspect, but the case is still under investigation.
