3 Indian Land women robbed in parking lots

— Deputies need help identifying the men who robbed three women in Indian Land store parking lots this week.

One robber threatened to shoot his victim, while another assaulted a woman in his attempt to snatch her pocket book.

On Monday, a woman told deputies that a man with brown hair and wearing an orange shirt approached her at about 8:20 p.m. while she was in the parking lot of the Harris Teeter on Carolina Commons, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The man took the victim’s purse and fled the parking lot in a sport utility vehicle.

An hour later, a woman, 58, reported that a man wearing a plaid shirt walked up to her in the parking lot of CVS on Charlotte Highway and demanded her purse, threatening her with a gun. The man took the victim’s purse, fleeing in a dark-colored SUV.

A passenger in that SUV, deputies say, might be the same man who robbed a woman two hours later in the parking lot of the Walmart on Charlotte Highway. That victim, 61, told deputies that a thin man, possibly 20 to 30 years old, got out of an SUV from the passenger’s side.

As the victim struggled with the man when he grabbed her purse, he hit her in the face, the sheriff’s office said. The victim suffered minor injuries. The robber fled in an SUV driven by another man.

Anyone with information about these robberies can call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388 or Crimestoppers at 888-274-6372. Anonymous tips can be submitted by going to midlandscrimestoppers.com.
