— Gov. Nikki Haley will be in Fort Mill Monday for two economic development announcements that could involve up to 5,000 local jobs.

The first announcement is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Fort Mill Golf Club. Haley will appear with South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt as well as local ad county officials.

The second announcement will be at 3 p.m. in the Dairy Barn.

Mark Farris, York County’s director of economic development, has said his office has been pursuing two major office projects, but declined to comment on those projects and whether or not they have a connection to Monday's announcement.

Other sources say the projects could bring more than 5,000 jobs and an infrastructure investment of more than $200 million to the county. The agenda for Monday night's York County Council meeting includes two "inducements" – fee-in-lieu of tax proposals – but specifics, such as the names of the companies involved and the amount of the proposed tax breaks offered, are not included.

Earlier on Monday, Haley is scheduled to be in Chester to announce a possible manufacturing development there.
