— A driver stopped on suspicion of speeding on Springfield Parkway was arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying a gun and possessing cocaine.

At about 12:25 a.m. June 17, a Fort Mill Police Department officer tracked a car with his radar gun and got a reading of 58 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the report. After he was pulled over by the officer, the driver, identified as Donald Wilson, 27, of 7823 Green Pond Rd., Fort Mill, allegedly told the officer he has a .45 caliber pistol that he placed between the seats of his truck, a gold F250.

During a search of Wilson, who police say did not have a permit to carry the pistol, the officer found a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance and a dollar bill that also had a white powdery substance on it, according to the report.

In addition to the pistol, police removed a rifle, several magazines of ammunition and a bullet-proof vest, according to the report.

Wilson, who was also charged with speeding, was taken into custody and transported to the FMPD for booking. The items taken from his truck were secured as evidence and the truck was impounded.
