Photographers from Fort Mill, Tega Cay win competition

This photo, called “Going Home” by Caleb Flachman won first place in the Arts Council of York County’s Annual Photography Youth Photography Competition.


Several local students were winners in the Arts Council of York County’s fifth annual Youth Photography Competition. The recently announced winners were:

•  First place, “Going Home,” by Caleb Flachman

•  Second place, “So Far Away…,” by Victoria Shackelford

•  Third place, “Contact,” by Sally Frost

• Honorable Mention awards went to “Let the Bedbugs Bite,” by Sean Breitkreutz, “Alleyway,” by Nathan Flachman and “Kickin’ It Old School,” by Shackelford.

Shackelford and Caleb and Nathan Flachman are Fort Mill residents and Frost is from Tega Cay. A merit award presented to the first place winner was donated by Marcia Kort Buike of Tega Cay.

The winning photo will be on exhibit until July 27 at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
