FORT MILL — The Fort Mill High School volleyball team’s first summer day camp was held recently at the school for 80 local girls in fourth to ninth grades.
The June 23-26 event raised money for the high school team and increased interest in volleyball, varsity coach Gina Farley said.
Farley coordinated with junior varsity coach Kelly Medley, freshman coach Craig Brown, team members and two alumni to plan and staff the event.
“This is the first year. We wanted to provide an opportunity for girls in the community to have a local camp,” Farley said.
“I’m thrilled with the turnout. We met our maximum. We wanted to keep the quality high to have plenty of one-on-one time and feedback. There’s a lot of great talent coming up through the Fort Mill community so it’s exciting for us at the high school level to see this.”
