— Fort Mill School Board Chairman Patrick White said today he plans to file to run for re-election.

“It is clear that we are in another accelerated growth period and the next few years are going to be critical for our district, particularly as we look to maintaining the education excellence our community and its children now enjoy,” White said.

“It is my hope the voters within our district have valued my many contributions throughout the years of managing unprecedented growth and budget constraints, and will vote in my favor as I look to continue this important work for our community.”

Four of the seven Fort Mill School Board members are up for re-election this year. Candidates can file to run for school board Aug. 1-15. Voting is at-large. If there are more than four candidates, the top-four vote-getters win.

So far, White, incumbent Wayne Bouldin and Michele Branning, who narrowly lost a 2012 bid to win a seat on the board, have announced their candidacy.

White, a VP of Supply Chain for Comporium, has served on the school baord since first being elected in 2002. Since then, the district tripled in size from five schools with less than 4,000 students to 15 schools with more than 12,000 students.
