  • Fort Mill boys, girls both fall to Gaffney

    After getting beat by Fort Mill at their place, the Gaffney High Indians got some revenge Friday by beating Fort Mill on its own court, 71-66.

    The Indians (18-2, 6-1 Region 3-AAAA) had a big second half by Dershawn Dawkins, as he led Gaffney with 19 points, and Chase Smith, who had 14 points.

    Also Friday, in girls hoops action, Fort Mill lost to Gaffney 46-40

  • The call to the hall: John Ray Kimbrell | ‘Field trials have been good to me’

    A lifetime of work and a lifetime of miles on the road have led Fort Mill native John Ray Kimbrell to one of the most important days of his life – today, Feb. 3, 2010.

    That is the day that Kimbrell will enter the National Field Trial Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Huffman, N.C.

    The Wofford mens soccer team parlayed a mixture of youth and experience into a 12-3 record, a conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament. Leading the way was senior defenseman Nick Schuermann, a Fort Mill High graduate, who shined on the field and in the classroom.

    With two minutes left on the clock, the tied game between the Magic and Team Garner's team went back and forth and ended in a tie.

  • Falcons swoop down on Gaffney for 1st Region win

    The Nation Ford High School Falcons wrestling team picked up its first Region III-AAAA win of the year with a 36-34 victory over Gaffney High School.

  • Jones' big bucket lifts Nation Ford to a win

    The Falcons (9-6, 1-0) battled back from a six-point deficit early in the fourth quarter. Trailing 31-25, Jones scored on a 15-foot jumper. D.J. Dinwiddie turned an offensive rebound into a bucket before Jaylen Reid tied the game with a short jump shot with 4:24 remaining.

  • Fort Mill pulls out close one

    The Fort Mill High Yellow Jackets pulled out a close game over Charlotte Country Day 60-57.

    The Jackets used a consistent second-half effort and some defensive skills to overcome a four-point halftime deficit.

    Fort Mill trailed 29-25 at the half, but used a 7-0 run in the third to regain the lead and make a push for the win.

  • Lady Jackets pick up key win

    The Fort Mill High School Lady Yellow Jackets picked up their first Region III-AAAA victory in three years with a 61-44 win over the Clover Blue Eagles Friday night.

    Local girls aged 10 to 12 have the opportunity to try out for the new 12U Carolina Angels Softball team at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Harris Street Park in Fort Mill.

  • Elks invite kids to compete in free throw contest

    The Elks “Hoop Shoot” free throw contest for boys and girls aged 8 to 13 will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex on Tom Hall Street (Hwy. 160 East), Fort Mill.

  • Lady Falcons double up Rock Hill

    The Nation Ford High Lady Falcons picked up their fifth win of the season by beating Rock Hill 42-23 Tuesday evening.

    Rock Hill struggled from the opening tip to put together any type of consistent offense while Nation Ford had 10 of its 12 players score in the game.
