Springfield caps perfect season
The Springfield Middle girls soccer team beat Gold Hill, 2-1. Kelly Ervin and Laura Fadeley were the top scorers for the Lady Mustangs.
Koster named to All-Star team
Fort Mill senior Garrett Koster was named to the South Carolina-North Carolina Select team voted on by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association.
Warriors Booster Club meeting
The Indian Land Athletic Booster Club meeting has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1 in the ILHS Media Center. It was necessary to reschedule the meeting due to several spring sports games and the absence of officers.
Booster club tournament
The first ever FMHS Athletic Booster Club golf tournament will be held Friday, May 2, at Tega Cay Golf Club. The event has a 12 noon shotgun start and will include prizes for winners, long drive competitions, closest to the pin competitions, and raffle prizes. The entry fee is $60 and includes a boxed lunch, range balls, golf, and a dinner after play. Mulligan packages will be available for $20. The tournament is also in need of additional hole sponsors. No money equals no birdies
The Indian Land golf team is planning to participate in the Class A State golf tournament at Stoney Point in Greeenwood May 4-6, but needs help. The golf team needs $500 to pay for the tournament entry fee and hotel rooms. Any business interested in making a donation, make checks payable to IL golf and send them to the high school, attention coach Michael Mayer or contact Mayer at the school between 1-3 p.m. daily.
Pleasant Hill golf tournament
The Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church will hold a captain's choice golf tournament at noon, May 5 at Stonebridge Golf Club. The cost is $50 per golfer, $200 per team includes greens fee, cart, and post-round dinner and awards banquet. Awards banquet immediately following tournament at Pleasant Hill UMC Fellowship Hall. Other family members and friends may attend banquet for an additional $10 per person. Make checks payable to Pleasant Hill Men's Fellowship. Registration fees must be received prior to tournament date. Proceeds intended for United Methodist youth and children's camp ministries. For more information, contact Pleasant Hill UMC at 548-4922.
Legion tryouts
The Fort Mill American Legion Post 43 baseball team will be holding tryouts at 6 p.m. May 7 at Fort Mill High baseball field.
Cheer Jewels All-Star Cheerleading
Sign-up for the 2008-2009 Cheer Jewels season is underway through Saturday, May 10. A placement workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. May 10 at the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex. Cheer Jewels is for children ages 4-14 and for all ability levels. Participants will learn to stunt, tumble, jump, dance and cheer. For more information, call Jennifer Wilson at 372-7082.
Archery money needed
The Springfield Elementary School archery team will be participating in the National Archery Tournament in Louisville May 10 and needs to raise $6,000 in order to take 24 students to the event. The school was earned a spot in the event after winning the state championship earlier this month. Softball tournament for cancer
There will be a men's Class D round robin softball tournament to be held at Leroy Springs Recreation Complex 8 a.m. May 10 until finished. Entry fee $150. All proceeds donated to Relay for Life. For more information, call 230-3774.
Offensive line camp
Nation Ford High school will host a one day camp for offensive linemen May 25 at the school. Registration is between 8-9 a.m. with the camp ending near 4 p.m. Bring tennis shoes in case of rain.
