Falcons breeze on

The Nation Ford Lady Falcons breezed through York 8-1 last week to improve to 9-4 in Region III-AAAA.

The win gives the Lady Falcons a secure lock on the fourth and final playoff spot for the state soccer tournament.

Led by junior Katie Kozlowski's five goals, Nation Ford never let up. Kozlowski scored just 11 minutes into the contest, and would go on to score four of the five first half goals by Nation Ford.

Her second goal, just a minute later, was assisted by sophomore Emily Mayhew and her fourth goal, at 35 minutes, was assisted by freshman Shannon Connolly.

Two minutes later, sophomore Nicole Parks scored off an assist from junior Aly Shearer.

In the second half, Kozlowski assisted freshman Sarah Bebeau with a goal. Bebeau returned minutes later with another goal, this time with some help from Connolly.

Kozlowski scored her fifth and final goal at the 56-minute mark. Nation Ford had 17 shots on goal, while holding York to just five and keeper Kelsey Blair made four saves in goal.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Falcons fell to Northwestern 2-1 after allowing two first-half goals.

Kozlowski scored the lone goal in the second half for Nation Ford, which, despite its best efforts, couldn't tie the game.

Overall, Nation Ford is 11-4-1 with all four losses coming from within the region. Its final regular season game is against Fort Mill, which the gave the Lady Falcons a close battle.
