The Lady Jackets track team finished third in the 4A state track and field championship Saturday, losing to Spartanburg by 3.5 points, who won the title, and Northwestern by 1.5 points, who finished second.
Senior Ashley Potts, who will be running next year at Coastal Carolina University, had a busy weekend competing in four events. Potts had three seconds and a fifth place finish in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 4 inches.
Potts came in second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.95 and second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.21. She was also a member of the 4 x 400 relay team, along with Tiayonna Blackmon, Taylor Miller and Lisa Nichols, which finished second.
Senior Tiayonna Blackmon, who will be running at N.C. State next year, also stayed busy competing in four events - two relays and two individual events. In the 1,600-meters, she finished third in 5:17.87 and third in the 800-meter in 2:19.80.
Junior Quanika Blackmon finished fourth behind her sister in the 1,600-meter in 5:19.29. Freshman Abby Lewis finished seventh in the 800-meters in 2:19.70.
Freshman Sarah Owen finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 11.58.42 and junior Ceci Kryst finishes fifth in the long jump with a 17 feet, 5 inch leap.
