(Published May 13, 2008)

After cruising through the first round, Indian Land ran into a very difficult Christ Church team getting knocked out 3-0 in the second round of the soccer playoffs.

Christ Church scored just once in the first half and then pulled away in the second half with two more goals.

Despite the fatigue and injuries, Indian Land has proven to prevail most of the time.

Last week, the Warriors went head to head with Lewisville for the fourth time this season. This time in the opening round of the 1A playoffs.

As the season comes to a close for Indian Land, the players have decided to go out with a bang and won in a 3-0 shutout against Lewisville.

Anthony Sweatt and Luke Lambert proved to the be offensive team to beat during the game. Sweatt was, yet again, a major scorer for the Warriors with two goals, both assisted by Luke Lambert, while Lambert put icing on the cake with one more goal, assisted by Sweatt.

"We were playing somewhat crippled," said head coach Adam Cole. "It's the end of the season and most of the guys are playing tough through all the aches and pain built up over the course of the season. I'm proud of the determination of the guys. They went out and did their job, despite of the setbacks. I'm especially proud of our bench; those guys came in there and did well replacing the starters."

With a solid win on their backs and a load of confidence the Indian Land Warriors look to see an optimistic end to the season.

"We have a tough group of kids with a lot of talent, how we play together will make or break us," Cole said.
