The Carolina Thunder have improved to 11-6 on the year after winning four of its last five games.

Carolina split a doubleheader with Morganton last Friday and swept a doubleheader from Tennessee last Thursday.

The team also won a pretty strange game against the Carolina Chaos, in which the Chaos took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, despite not getting a hit.

Northwestern graduate Taylor Ramsey got the start for the Carolina Thunder, but only lasted three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs, two of them earned, on five walks, three hit batters and a wild pitch.

Ramsey's control has been better in the past. He started the summer baseball season with Chester's American Legion team and in one game struck out 21 batters.

Ramsey was replaced with Winthrop University sophomore Casey Bradwell, who allowed just one more run, that being in the sixth inning and went two and a third innings giving up three hits.

The Thunder did rally in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runs to make it 3-2. Fellow Northwestern graduate Jamie Holler started the inning off with a single and was followed by Appalachian State's Keith Mauney.

Middle Tennessee State Ben Darlington walked to load the bases and Temple University 's Byron McKoy singled to drive in Holler. USC-Sumter freshman Tim Flood then had a sacrifice to drive in Mauney, who went 3-4 in the game with an RBI.

Carolina then came back to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good.

Brevard College's Michael Calhoun started the inning off with getting hit by a pitch to get on base. Appalachian State's Jack Myers then reached on an error and both were driven in two batters later when Mauney doubled. Darlington, who went 1-3 with two RBIs, then singled in Mauney to end the scoring.
