Shark bit - again! Tega Cay finishes second in finals

For the second time this season, the Tega Cay Breakers came up on the wrong end against River Hills.

Tega Cay finished second to River Hills in the Metrolina Swim League championship Saturday, falling 674-503, just hours after topping River Hills in the Metrolina Invitational 654-608. River Hills got the best of Tega Cay earlier in the year as well in a head-to-head meet.

In the Metrolina Championship, the Baxter Barracudas finished fifth, missing fourth place by one point to Shiland 151-150. Baxter finished third in the Metrolina Invitational.

Leroy Springs Recreation Complex beat out first year team the Springfield Greenwave 22-21 in the Metrolina Championship to finish seventh. Leroy Springs also finished fifth at the Invitational, while Springfield finished eighth.

In the championship, River Hills won five of eight team relays, with Rock Hill Country Club taking two and Tega Cay winning the boys 11-18 100-yard free relay.

• Joe Orehek -- boys six and under 25-yard freestyle

• Cameron Crosby -- boys 10 and under 100-yard individual medley

• Zachary Piedt -- boys 11-12 100-yard individual medley

• Abby Gerald -- girls eight and under 25-yard breaststroke

• Sam Van Buskirk -- boys 13-14 50-yard breaststroke

• Jennifer Russell - girls 15-18 50-yard breaststroke

• Jamie Huffman -- girls 11-12 50-yard butterfly

Winning for Baxter in the championship was:

• Nicole Brashear -- girls 13-14 50-yard backstroke

• Kyle Brooks -- boys 11-12 50-yard breaststroke

• James Brashear -- boys 15-18 50-yard butterfly

There was no individual winners for Leroy Springs and Springfield in the championship meet.

In the Invitational meet, Tega Cay and River Hills each won four of the eight team relay events.

There was no individual winners from Springfield in the Invitational meet.

Before Saturday's season ending events, Tega Cay and Baxter participated in make-up meets, rained out earlier in the year. The Breakers took on and beat Rock Hill 422-164, while Baxter fell to River Hills.
