The Charlotte Knights will be well represented in this year's XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game Sunday, July 13, at Yankee Stadium.

Knights infielder Chris Getz and pitcher Clayton Richard were named to the 25-man U.S. squad that will face a team made up of World All-Stars.

Getz is batting .303 with six home runs and 29 RBIs for the Knights this season, while playing mostly at second base in his first season in Triple-A. Coming into this season, Getz was rated the number five prospect in the White Sox organization by Baseball America. He was named to the Southern League midseason All-Star team in 2007.

Richard recently joined the Knights from Double-A Birmingham June 11. He is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 20 innings of work. Prior to being called up to Charlotte, Richard was 6-6, 2.47 ERA with the Barons and was named Southern League pitcher of the week June 2.

Current Knights third baseman Josh Fields was the last Charlotte player to be named to the Futures Game in 2006. Former Knight Jon Garland was named to the U.S. team in 2000.

The rosters - comprised of players from various levels in the minors - are selected by Major League Baseball, in conjunction with all 30 Major League teams and Baseball America. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 12:30 p.m. July 13.

• Charlotte Knights first baseman Brad Eldred broke his wrist recently and will be out of action for about two to four weeks.

Eldred, who was leading the International League in home runs with 26 and RBIs with 72, was injured when trying to catch a foul ball. He has played in 76 games of the Knights' scheduled 144 and could very well break the single season home runs and RBI records for the Knights.

The Knights' single season record for home runs is 38, held by both Sam Horn (1993) and Roberto Estalella (1938). The single-season RBI record is 127 held by Tom Dodd (1987).

The 27-year-old will be turning 28 Saturday, July 12, and should still be able to make a run at the home run record and possibly the RBI record depending on how soon he comes and and how long he stays with the Knights.

If Eldred continues on the season he has, he could be called up by Chicago before the Knights' season ends. Given he misses the month of July and his swing isn't affected by his injury, he has been averaging nine home runs a month and will have about 31 games to hit 13 homes to break the record. In May of this season, he hit 14 home runs. He has also been averaging about 24 RBIs a month as well.

Eldred has some experience at the big league level, playing in 74 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2005 and 2007. He hit .199 with 14 home runs and 30 RBIs in that time.

He played in 18 games last year for Indianapolis last season before fracturing his thumb and was out for the remainder of the season.

He was selected by the Pirates in the sixth round of the 2002 draft. He was picked up by the White Sox as a free agent last December.
