Baldridge moves up
Former Fort Mill High School and Coastal Carolina outfielder Tommy Baldridge has received a promotion after only 19 professional games.
The left-handed-hitting Baldridge, the Yankees' 33rd round pick in June's First-Year Player Draft, began his pro career with the Gulf Coast League Yankees, a rookie team. He batted .288 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 66 plate appearances before being promoted to Tampa.
After three games with the Tampa Yankees, who are managed by ex-big league infielder Luis Sojo, Baldridge was batting .222 with one RBI. That RBI came on a grounder to second base in a 10-3 victory over Jupiter.
Lisk an All-Star
Ex-Fort Mill High catcher Charlie Lisk participated in the recent 16th annual Frontier League All-Star Game.
Lisk, a member of the Gateway Grizzlies in the independent circuit, was the West Division's starting catcher and went 1-for-2 at the plate. Lisk is batting .298 with 16 homers and 43 RBIs. He is second in the league in homers.
Knight moves
The Charlotte Knights and Chicago White Sox continue to shuffle the Triple-A team's roster. Knights left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard was recalled to Chicago recently. Richard had been named to the U.S. Olympic Baseball Team. However, his promotion to the major leagues makes him ineligible for the U.S. team. The White Sox also recalled third baseman Josh Fields.
First baseman Brad Eldred was activated from the disabled list. He was placed on the DL on June 21 after being hit by a pitch and breaking a hand.
