Kimbrell in Japan

Fort Mill's Anna Kimbrell is in Japan this week competing with the USA National Women's Baseball team in the Women's World Cup of Baseball.

The Women's World Cup tournament began Sunday Aug. 24. It brings together the top female baseball players in the world with eight countries represented. Kimbrell is scheduled to return Saturday in time for the prep swimming season.

Kids needed for fun triathlon

A Kids Triathalon will be held 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex on Tom Hall Street (Hwy. 160 East), Fort Mill. Campers, come out and cheer with the big girls

All Fort Mill High School Little Girl's Camp campers are invited to cheer at the first FMHS home football game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. Girls should arrive at the FMHS stadium at 6 p.m. dressed in their LGC Camp T-shirt.

Vote for Austin

Austin Hair of Tega Cay is eligible for three WakeWorld's Riders Choice Awards for 2008 and you can help by voting for him on the Internet.

He has been selected as one of the top 10 wake boarders of the year, one of the most improved riders and one of the top five wake skaters. The winners will be selected by votes on the Web site, www.wakeworld.com. The deadline for voting is Thursday, Aug. 28.

Hair, 20, began wakeboarding at age 12 when he moved to Tega Cay from the Miami. He finished his second year on the Pro Wakeboard Tour this year and is a former world champion in wake skating.

He is majoring in digital media at University of Central Florida and is the son of David and Cynthia Hair of Tega Cay.

New indoor soccer clinic, league offered

The Upper Palmetto YMCA is introducing a five-week indoor soccer clinic for children ages 3 and 4. The program runs Sept. 15 to Oct. 17 and will be held at the Fort Mill YMCA in Baxter Village.

The cost is $40 for members and $60 for non-members. Registration ends Sept. 15.

Also at the Y, parents can sign up children between the ages of 5 and 8 for a soccer league that begins play Sept. 8.

A coaches meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the Baxter Y.
