The Lady Falcons girls volleyball team improved their season record to 4-0 in match play after defeating Lancaster last week by a final score of 3-0.
Coach Grete Miller said this year's team is made up of girls who have been playing together for years and have a real desire and passion for volleyball. The team's success is particularly noteworthy because of the five sophomores Nation Ford, now in its second year of play, sends out on the court.
Ally Lambert and Sara Bebeau both had 12 kills against Lancaster. Sophomore Sheila Walsh had 15 assists and seven service aces and senior Heather Hammond ended the game with four service aces.
"Sara was able to play a little last night as she slowly returns/recoups from her illness," added Miller, referring to Bebeau, last year's all conference player who has been sidelined all season with a case of mono.
The Lady Falcons have been working hard since June, running and lifting all summer, and are enjoying a winning season so far, beating South Pointe (3-0) and both match-ups against Indian Land (3-0), (3-1).
Senior Taylor Holeman has 26 kills and junior Morgan Wolf has 78 assists. Among the sophomore standouts is Ally Lambert.
The team is looking forward to beginning its conference schedule next week with matches at home against Northwestern and away at Gaffney.
"We played and beat Northwestern in our scrimmage a few weeks ago, but [we're] not sure about Gaffney as they are new to our region," Miller said.
