Kayla Blackley returns a shot against Nation Ford. Blackley and her FMHS teammates face a formidable schedule of matches.

The Fort Mill High Lady Yellow Jackets tennis team lost to Lancaster and faces a grueling week of play with back-to-back matches against some tough conference opponents.

"We really don't have any time to prepare," coach Angela Niccum said.

"Just match play up until this point is the only preparation we have right now."

In their match against Lancaster, Fort Mill walked away with only one win from Bri Larive at number five singles.

"Ali Jensen and Kayla Blackley (number two doubles) had a strong fight and Mady Katz lost in a third set tiebreaker," Niccum said.

At home against Nation Ford, Fort Mill lost, but finished the match with two varsity wins - Mady Katz at number four singles and Kayla Blackley at number five singles. JV winners included doubles pairings of Persephone McCollough and Dori Wilson and Lauren Williams and Katie Wilbanks.

"All of the matches were very close and next time, we'll be ready to take the win," Niccum said.

The Lady Yellow Jackets face Northwestern, Clover, Providence Day and York.
