South Pointe runs over Yellow Jackets, 76-0

Fort Mill quarterback Danny Till unleashes a pass against South Pointe.

South Carolina's number two ranked 4-A football team, the South Pointe Stallions, stampeded over a young, visiting Yellow Jackets team 76-0.

Even without star senior running back, Devin Wherry, South Pointe demolished Fort Mill's defense and rushed for 279 yards.

Head Coach Ed Susi said he knew the football giant would do more than just challenge Jacket's defense.

"On defense, we have to be great tacklers. We need to hold on to the ball," Susi said.

Susi had sophomores and juniors playing a prepped veteran opponent. South Pointe Coach Bobby Carroll was empathic toward Susi, saying he understands what it's like to have to play young guys.

"Kids aren't stupid. They read [on] the Internet. They know they're [Stallions] one of the top 100 teams. We're playing a very tough schedule. We're struggling right now," Susi said

But now, the Jackets have to again find motivation during this week's practices in order to challenge the Rock Hill Bearcats at home Friday. Rock Hill has a lot of confidence after its defense tamed last season's state champions, the Clover Blue Eagles, 20-13.

"Our goal is to get better each game. Max [Simons] and Trent [Butler] are good players. They are strong players on both sides of the ball," Fort Mill quarterback Danny Till said.

"The kids want results, too," Susi said. "They know they can play better."

Friday's game starts at 7 p.m. at Bob Jones Stadium.
