Jacob Kohlhoff and Zach Piedt were selected and swam at the Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Orlando.

Local swimmers on the team are Daniel and James Martin, Meg Wiggins, Zachary Piedt and Al Lim –.all of Fort Mill – and Tori Herron and Jacob Kohlhoff, both of Tega Cay.

RAYS Coach Lynn Williams said a lot of work went into getting so many children prepared to swim in the championships.

Recently, Kohlhoff and Piedt represented South Carolina as members of the S.C. Zone Team at the Southern Zone Long Course Championship meet at the YMCA Aquatics Center in Orlando, Fla. That team is comprised of seven swimmers of each gender in the 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 age groups from across the state. They competed against swimmers from Florida to West Virginia.

Four swimmers from the RAYS, Claire Holliday, Jackson Bagwell, Piedt and Lim, have been selected to participate in the S.C. Select Camp that will be held on Sept. 26-27 in Myrtle Beach. The camp will have coach Joe Bernal as well as Olympian swimmer Kaitlin Sandeno on hand.

The RAYS Fall Classic will be held at the Aquatic Center Sept. 19.
