Trojans bomb Warriors

FORT MILL TOWNSHIP -- 

In Monday night football in Tega Cay, the Trojans defeated the Warriors 30-6 in Small Fry play. The Trojans held a strong defense and only gave up one first down on a pass play from the Warriors’ Gray Thomas to Ben Brukner.

The Trojan defense was led by Cade Marler, Danny Mackey and Dalton Evans. Mackey intercepted one pass and picked up a fumble he ran back for a touchdown. Hunter Helms recovered an onside kick and threw two touchdown passes – one apiece to Mackey Ethan Piercy. Alec Ancevic ran for another touchdown to lead the offense.

Bruckner, Matthew Davis and Evan DiPastina were recognized as Players of the Game for the Warriors. Other games: In a defensive struggle, the Trojans then went on to defeat the Mustangs 6-0. With a strong offensive line, the Trojans managed to get Piercy in for a touchdown right before the half. The second half had strong Trojan defense led by Helms and Ancevic. Evans made some big tackles late in the game to stop any scoring opportunity for the Mustangs. With just one minute left in the game, John Menchinger iced the game with an interception.

The Bulldogs defeated the Warriors in a high scoring battle. After trailing 12-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs were able to crack a stingy Warriors defense and come from behind to capture the victory by a score of 28-20. The Bulldogs were led by Jason Westmoreland, Austin Burkhart, Dylan Wright, Gunner Brewington, Bryson Fain and Dustin Stegall. The Gators finished the regular season at 4-2 after defeating the Mustangs 14-6.

The Gators were led by the running attack of Wade Harris, Dalton Warren and Ben Tuipulotu and by the line play of Trenton Newcomer and Brandon Jones.

Bearing down The Leroy Springs Complex Bears remains undefeated in the Pee Wee Division after beating the Tega Cay Wolfpack 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Fort Mill Middle School. The Bears are 5-0. Bradley Bott ran a touchdown in from 12 yards and Nathan Lovette added the two-point conversion. The Bears' defense was led by Lovette, Davis Hobbs and Sam Yarnes.

The Hurricanes defeated the Tigers 20-0 behind the play of JT Marr, Andrew Valverde, Kevin Adkisson James Chenault, Lane Torbush, Thomas Windell and Petey Tuipulotu. The Tigers were led by Johnny Luther and Jaelen Harfield.

The high score was due to excellent offensive line play by Nicholas Kucinski, Eduardo Claudio Jr., Andrew Valverde, Braden Beck, Jacob Osborne, J.T. Irvin and Grayson Barber. The defense was led by Claudio Jr., Anthony Valverde, Chase Worley, Danyel Duenas, Weston Nguyen, Barber, Valverde, Windell, Marr, Adkisson and Tuipulotu.

The Longhorns captured the Small Fry regular season championship by defeating the Wolverines, 6-0 in overtime. The team finished the season 6-0. The Longhorns were led by the play of Collin Hendrick, Jakob Graveley, Ben Pracht, Andrew Pappalardo, Tanner Lanum and Will Vincelli.

The Wolverines were led by Andrew Webster, Nehemiah Robinson, BJ Brock, Bryce Osborne and Ben Wornom.

The Cardinals picked up their first victory Saturday night, defeating the Panthers 16-6. Jack Corkery connected with Ryan Moughan on a 65-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Kawan Walker sprinted 86 yards for the second score and Brett Ferguson rushed for both two-point conversions to round out the scoring. Jonathan Cox led the Cardinals with 14 tackles and Chris Butler had an interception.

Batter Up! The 12U Tornadoes had a tough week, losing 17-6 against the Clover Heat and 13-8 to the Leroy Springs Complex.

Kathleen Stacy got a hit against Clover and Riley Duke did a great job running the bases. She made a steal play towards home, stopped, got the catcher to throw an overthrow to third getting herself and one other player to score. Kayla Rose stopped a hard hit ball into the outfield that spared a home run for Clover.

Amelia Majcina made a great slide at home to get under a tag to give another score in the game against LSC.

After the first inning the Tornadoes were ahead 7-6 but couldn't pull it off in the second. With the bases loaded the fourth batter came up with one out and hit a hard ball to the shortstop, who made a nice catch resulting in a double play by LSC.

Soccer action The Blue Bombers played against a hard-playing Gold Team in YMCA action. The Bombers' forwards, Lydia Snafauer, Alex Conlon and Phillip Ford, kept the ball moving in the right direction and were able to score in the second period. Jenna Bowman had a last minute goal to tie the game. The Bombers' defense was led by Lawson Ross, Simon Huertas and Conner Rogers. The defense kept the ball moving by making great passes and even through the Gold team was able to score, the Blue Bombers kept the game tied 2-2.

Also , The TC Gladiators U10 team was led this week by goalie Gavin McCraw, Jackson Morgan for his outstanding defense and Quinn Ashworth on offense who scored five goals in three games. Behind the strong play of Ben and Hank Tuipulotu, the Tega Cay Blue Crew won 5-2 Monday night. Ben had three goals and Hank had three assists. Other goals were scored by Cody Helms and Loris Klaus had an outstanding goal that drew loud applause for his fantastic effort. Ryan Carr was declared the most improved player of the match from the beginning of the season.
