Local golfer to play in challenge match

Mike Zimmerman of Fort Mill is among the River Hills Interclub team members set to compete for the 2009 CGA Interclub Match Play Championship Nov, 7-8 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
The River Hills Country Club team will challenge the Cramer Mountain Country Club team in the semifinal matches this Saturday, while Coharie Country Club will meet Stoney Creek Golf Club in the other semifinal.
The River Hills team is experienced in playoff competition, having previously won the championship in 2002 and finishing second in the finals in 2006. This will be the first semifinal Interclub match for the other three teams. Twelve players from each club will compete at four-ball and singles match play with the most cumulative points determining the winner of each match. The winners will meet on Sunday for the Championship.
“I think our club will do well due to our past Interclub teams' accomplishments in the playoffs” said T.J. Bridges, River Hills PGA Director of Golf.
