  • Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Indian Land invited anyone interested to be a part of the prayer shawl ministry at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. Members knit and crochet shawls to be given to those who need to feel the comfort of prayer.

  • Keep pressing on

    Psalm 107:8 & 9 says,”Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” This verse is a good one for Thanksgiving month for it mentions giving thanks and God filling the hungry. But what I really want to do is encourage you today to keep pressing on.

  • At 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, the Fort Mill YMCA will hold a grand opening for “The Reading Shack,” located in the chapel which was donated by the Campbell Family in honor of their daughter, Kimberly Hope Campbell.

  • A community fall festival Saturday, Oct. 24, at Pleasant Hill UMC in Indian Land begins with a 7 a.m. yard sale. Rent a table for $10 or donate items for church to sale.

    The Zoar United Methodist Women will sponsor their annual bake sale and yard sale 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10. If you have items you would like to donate for the yard sale, call 548-5254 for pickup.

    Booth space is still available for the Philadelphia United Methodist Church annual fall festival, which will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Booth space is eight feet by 10 feet and costs $10, which goes to support local missions.

    Despite all of the advantages we enjoy today with technology, entertainment, opportunities for volunteer work, travel, etc., I hear many complain of being bored.
