• Children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join Lake Wylie Lutheran Church on a Rainforest Adventure. Experience Bible stories through an interactive combination of music, art, science, games, worship and drama in an imaginary rainforest canopy.

This five-day adventure takes place 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 13-17 at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, located on the corner of Gold Hill Road and Hwy. 160 West in Fort Mill. The cost is $10 per child with a maximum of $30 per family, payable by check to Lake Wylie Lutheran Church. Write VBS on the memo line. Registration forms are available in the narthex and are due to the church secretary with payment by July 4. Space is limited and children will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. • Saddle up! Flint Hill Baptist Church will be holding Cactus Canyon Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 13-17. Registration begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13. The church is located at 269 Flint Hill Rd., Fort Mill. Call 548-0672 or send an e-mail to mdcorzine@yahoo.com.

First Baptist Church in Fort Mill is sponsoring a variety of sports-oriented clinics that will run from 9 a.m. to noon July 14-18. Clinics offered are football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer and cheerleading. The cost is $25. Register online at www.fbcfm.com.

Ultimate Life offers school, 'Mom's morning'

Ultimate Life Preschool and Ultimate Life Academy is now enrolling students for 2008-09. Children have fun while learning sound educational principles.

GHMS moms pray together

Get the 'glow'

Aglow, a transdenominational organization or Christian women, meets 7-9 p.m. the fourth tuesday of each month at a private home in Regent Park. Aglow groups are in approximately 165 nations around the world with more than 1,400 local groups in the U.S.

The heart of the organization is local fellowships. Small groups studies, care (support) groups, retreats, and annual conferences make up the Aglow year. Catholic Mass in Indian Land

St. Philip Neri Catholic Church is now holding Mass at 4 p.m. Saturdays at Belair United Methodist Church off Shelley Mullis Road in Indian Land.

The EDGE meets weekly

Tega Cay Baptist Church also invites seventh- to 12th-grade students to join youth pastor "Phud" Chambers at the EDGE from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. For more information, call 548-2600.

Master Club in swing

Bible Baptist Church, 255 S. Hwy. 21 Bypass in Fort Mill, offers a Master Club 7:15-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays for kids in preschool through grade six. All kids in this age group are invited learn about the Bible, memorize verses, play games and more. There's a Teen program as well. Java ministry at PUMC

Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Fort Mill features a Philly Java Ministry. From 6-8 a.m. on the first Monday of every month, travelers on Hwy. 160 West can drive through the PUMC circle drive and get free coffee or soda. They will take prayer requests and provide a "thought and prayer" for the month that is laminated and can be placed on your car's sun visor.

Sisk offers clothes, baby formula

The Sisk Memorial Clothes Closet is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday at 118 Spratt St. in Fort Mill, next to the Sisk Memorial Family Life Center. Clothes for children and adults in need - jackets, sweaters, shoes, pants, skirts, etc., are available at no charge.

Also available at this time is powdered baby formula for mothers who need it.

Sisk has a supply of Similac Advance infant formula (birth to 12 months), Similac-Isomil

Advance Soy formula (birth to 12 months) and Enfamil Next Steps Lipil with Iron (9 months to 24 months). For more information or to donate items, call the church office at 547-2537.

Higher Ground offers school programs

Higher Ground Church is accepting enrollments for its Preschool/Mother's Morning Out program. There are two-, three- and five-day programs to choose from. There are spaces available for children aged 2-5.

The program offers a Christian and HighReach Learning curriculum. HighReach Learning provides a rich learning environment to expand vocabularies, express creativity and explore, early math and science and socialization.

Also at Higher Ground, the Child Development Center offers an after school program for children in kindergarten though fifth grade. The program follows a Christian curriculum, provides structured homework time, games, sports and crafts. Space is limited.

Higher Ground Church is a non-denominational church located at 8365 Possum Hollow Road in Indian Land.

AIC meets earlier

Antioch International Church now has its Sunday services at 10 a.m. instead of 6 p.m. The venue for Sunday services is still NarroWay Theatre and Conference Center and the kids ministry is still active. NarroWay is located at 3346 Hwy. 21 at Carowinds Boulevard, Fort Mill.

Help with grieving

Ultimate Life Church on Carowinds Boulevard in Fort Mill offers support for people coping with losses in life such as divorce, death, jobs, loved ones, dreams, friends, etc. Learn how to overcome the emotions that go along with the loss and begin to function with joy in your life again. Groups meet at 7 p.m. the first and fourth Fridays of each month.

Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, 109 Harris St., has a time of prayer on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. for the nation, church and any prayer requests.

Adults needed for outreach

Young Life of York County is at work with teens in the community, providing leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids' lives and giving them hope for tomorrow. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people in order to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ. Young Life reaches suburban, urban and multicultural kids as well as kids with disabilities and teenage mothers. Young Life is in all 50 states and more than 45 countries.

ESL classes held

English-as-a-Second Language classes meet at 7 p.m. every Tuesday night at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill. Students are assessed and placed in a class based on their knowledge of English, from beginner to advanced. All classes are free and are for anyone who needs to learn to speak English.

MOPS meets

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) an international, nondenominational Christian organization, meets at First Baptist Church, 121 Monroe White St. in Fort Mill.

MOPS serves moms to make a difference in the lives of their families. Women with children ages infant through kindergarten meet twice each month from September through April. One group meets the first and third Fridays and a second group meets the second and fourth Fridays, both from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The meetings rotate between guest speakers and crafts projects. Childcare is provided.

AWANA meets

Kids' program held on Sundays

GlenRock Baptist Church, 1615 Doby's Bridge Road in Fort Mill, offers a Children's Ministry Fellowship and Bible Time program from 6 to 7 p.m. every Sunday. The program, for ages 5 to grade five, includes games and snacks.

Student ministries underway

Men's prayer breakfasts

n The men of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church meet at 7 a.m. Saturdays at the church for prayer, devotions and breakfast.

n The men of St. John's United Methodist Church hold a prayer breakfast every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Rosie's Restaurant in Rock Hill.

n The Men's Breakfast group of Lake Wylie Lutheran Church meets at 8:30 a.m. the second Tuesday each month at Rosie's Restaurant in Rock Hill. Men of all ages are welcome.
