Lake Wylie offers tips to newcomers

A new seven-week newcomers' class, "Moving on After Moving In," begins Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church at the corner of Hwy. 160 West and Gold Hill Road.

Do you need encouragement as you adjust to a move? Are you in unfamiliar surroundings? Do you want to make new friends? Then this class is for you. It will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays in the fellowship hall. This Christ-centered study will help you in the process of letting go, starting over and moving ahead with your life after the transition of a move.

Also, a newcomers desert is offered at the church 10 a.m. to noon and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. Dessert and coffee will be served. No reservations are required. Food, music, golf at Pleasant Hill

Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church will host a meal and Handbell Choir concert at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Also, the church is holding its annual charity golf tournament Monday, Sept. 29, at Stonebridge Country Club in Monroe, N.C. The event will feature at Captain's Choice shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., awards reception and banquet following the conclusion of the tournament. PUMC plans fall festival

Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 1691 Hwy. 160 West, Fort Mill, is planning its Fall Festival for Saturday, Oct. 4. There will be a huge yard sale and booths for crafts, face painting, and other vendors that will begin at 8 a.m.

The United Methodist Women will also be selling home baked items, and Rada cutlery. The United Methodist Men will begin selling their chicken barbeque dinner beginning at 11 a.m.

Diners may stay to eat inside the fellowship hall, or purchase a meal for take-out. Call 548-0102 for more information or are interested in renting a space for a table or booth for your business, healthcare provider, or civic organization.
